Best Centre Training Outdoor Swim Camp, Majorca

3rd August – 10th August 2026

Seventeen Dunedin swimmers, accompanied by coaches, the ‘Johns’, and team manager Angie, travelled to Majorca for a week-long swim camp. They were joined by 12 swimmers and two coaches/team managers from Dunfermline Swimming Club.

The group stayed at Hotel Romantica in the coastal town of Colònia de Sant Jordi. The hotel was excellent and conveniently located just an eight-minute walk from the training venue. The Best Centre featured a 10-lane, 50m outdoor pool and a gym, where swimmers trained twice a day, with sessions in the morning and late afternoon.

The weather was exceptionally hot—hotter than on previous training trips abroad—but the swimmers coped brilliantly and performed extremely well throughout the week.

Away from training, the swimmers enjoyed spending time at the beach, located directly opposite the hotel, as well as relaxing by the hotel pool and making the most of their free time. The hotel’s rooftop bar was also a popular spot for many of the group. On their day off, they enjoyed a boat trip and had the opportunity to swim in the crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean. They also enjoyed exploring the local shops and spending their Euros.

The camp was packed with activity. Alongside the intensive swim programme, there were gym sessions, bleep tests, relay races, and plenty of team-building opportunities. Of course, there was also lots of sun cream, as well as a few trips to the chemist and doctor for minor ailments—thankfully nothing serious.

Overall, it was a fantastic week of hard work, sunshine, and fun, with all swimmers participating enthusiastically and making the most of a memorable training experience.
